Inaugural Podcast from myFlightCoach.com

The Joy of Flying

In this first episode I discuss why we fly and try to share some of joy and enthusiasm for the gift of wings.

Having trouble embedding it in wordpress.   Check it out here….

P.S.  It’s a first attempt…I’ll be working to increase quality of production as we go.

  1. I have actually “whooped” out with unfettered joy in flight before! Even within the past year…there are things that I do in the airplane that just remind me of the glee that flying is.

I’ve also done things that were very serious, like standing at attention as a flag covered casket was loaded somberly into the back of a C-17A. At the end of the day, as the honor guard carries the fallen soldier, airman, or marine to his final resting place with due respect, I still am thankful I could be the one to escort him, through the air, from the desert to his home country.

Even the work is play–even the serious is fulfilling. Thanks for the podcast–thanks for stirring up the memories, Chris!

  2. Thanks Mark. I think as we look toward advocacy for GA we have to speak in terms of joy, adventure, and fun. For the vast majority of Private Pilots, the utility of flying will fall to 2nd Place (a Cessna simply costs more to operate than the mini-van). These are things that are still important to people –look at the sale of bass boats, jet skis, and motorcycles. I think we have to tap into that segment. I’ve got an article in the “hopper” dealing with this.

Appreciate your comments and a HUGE thank you for your service to our country.

  3. Excellent point–joy over utility. I’ll have to mull that over as I hit the road for my twelve mile run this morning.
